Urban Decay Naked Skin Shape Shifter - Medium Dark Shift

I have the Sephora app and they alerted me of the new product of the week!  The Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter, which is a 3-in-1 palette that allows you to contour, color correct and highlight.

At first I was mostly drawn to the packaging, a double-sided, double mirror bi-fold (or is it tri-fold?) case. The 2 mirrors add weight so it is a little on the heavy side for a palette.

There are 2 color options based upon your foundation shade.  Light Medium Shift for shades 0.5 to 7.0, and Medium Dark Shift for shades 6.0 to 12.  I selected Medium Dark Shift because I wear 7.5 in their foundation.

Medium Dark Shift - powder side
left to right: dark contour, medium contour, light contour, pearl highlighter
Can we talk about the pearl highlighter for a second?  Gorgeous!!! I was not expecting the bling from this innocent looking pink.  I'm wearing it in the photo below.

bling bling!

Swatches of the powders: They are extremely pigmented.  I wore the medium contour and it's dark against my skin. I'll probably use dark contour during the summer months.  The last shade is the pearl highlighter blended out.

The cream side
left to right: dark contour, light contour, color corrector, color corrector/highlighter and pearl highlighter.

I found this to be the most difficult side to work with. I have dark circles so I'm always trying out new concealers and color correctors. I found these to be just "okay". The orange was too dark for my skin, and the lighter shades couldn't cover my circles completely. I'm going to keep playing with it to see if I can master these creams. It usually takes me a few attempts to master new makeup.

Swatches of the creams.  They are very pigmented as well I just haven't found the right combination for my skin just yet.

Overall I found the creams are just okay. While they are well pigmented, I couldn't make them work on my skin.  I really like the powder side. I'm absolutely in love with the powder pearl highlighter. I don't have anything like it and it gives the most incredible glow! That makes this palette a yes for me.  I'm not sure if the palette is worth it for the highlighter alone.  It doesn't really have a name so I don't know if Urban Decay has produced it before.  They are coming out with a After Glow Palette.  Maybe it will have a similar effect for a cheaper price tag.

The Shapeshifter retails for $45 at vendors that carry Urban Decay.

New Wet n Wild Gel Polish

Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Holiday Season. Today I have a new nail polish product for 2016 by Wet N Wild. It's a "no light" gel polish, the 1 Step Wonder Gel polish. I found the display at CVS, but I've also seen it at WAGs. It was 4.99 and there was a  $1 off coupon.

The display states that it can be worn for up to 2 weeks, so I tried to settle on a color I thought I could live with for a long time. It's Sher-Bert Day! I planned to wear it as long as possible.

If you're wondering why my nails look scratchy it's because the polish took a very long time to dry, I applied 3 coats and waited for about 1 hour but still smudged them in my sleep.  Don't worry, the polish can be top-coated like a regular polish to smooth out the marks. I just wanted to try the polish alone, to test the true wear time.

Neither the display or bottle had instructions for use. So I'm guessing the polish is cured by natural sunlight. When I applied the polish the second time, I put my hand in the sun to set it for 60 seconds. It took about 20 minutes to set, then about an hour to dry. I guess I'm spoiled by Seche Vite because an hour felt like watching paint dry.

Here are the results after 7 days. I had major chipping on the 4th day, but I tried to endure the polish as long as I could. Luckily I had a busy week, so I wasn't tempted to remove it.

I removed the polish on day 8 with regular acetone and had slight staining. This is one of the lighter colors, so the darker colors may create a deeper stain. I was a little sad the polish didn't last longer, but I was still tempted to buy another bottle. It just felt easy applying the polish and skipping 2 steps.  I would say the polish is not comparable to UV light cured gel nails that seem to last forever on my nails.  To be fair, I am a very frequent hand washer and I work with my hands so this could just be the results of a busy-handed person (did I just make up a word? LOL).

All in all, it's still a decent buy, because you get the base, color and top-coat in 1 bottle for less than 5 bucks.

OPI Star Light Collection - Holiday 2015 - Swatches and Review

Hi beauty! I hope you're having a fabulous Holiday Season. I've been a busy-bee this season and shopping until my heart's content.  My nails are not looking their best, but there's a Holiday set that will help whip them into shape, and that's the OPI StarLight Collection.

First off, I can't remember a set this large. It's huge, 18 polishes, oh my!  OPI went all out with this collection, but enough babble, let's get started with the review.

NOTD Madam Glam I Love Winter

Today I have swatches of I love Winter from Madam Glam. It contains gold & pink micro glitter packed throughout a smokey base.

The formula is thick and goes on nicely with one coat, but needed two to become opaque.   From some angles, the glitter looks more like flakes. It's a simple yet stunning combination.

I love winter is available at for $10.95.  Their polishes are 5 and cruelty-free.

Easy Halloween Nail Stamping

I can't believe the year is almost over. Less than 100 days to Christmas and one of my favorite Holidays is right around the corner.  Yassssss!  It's time for spooky lights and tons of candy!

While I won't be having all of the candy I want this year, I will make time for lots of fun decorations and manicures of course.

I'm starting the Holiday season off with this easy nail stamping design. As I sorted through my stack of Halloween plates, I grabbed randoms which I thought were too cute to pass up.  I ended up with D04, W116, Handy 2, Handy 11, BM 209 and BM 224. All of these stamped over China Glaze Halloween 2015 green, orange and purple.

Stamping colors: KleanColor Black and Purple Sapphire, Pure Ice Silver Mercedes.

I think it turned out pretty cute (if I do say so myself :)

I hope you like this design as well. Thanks for stopping by!
